Practising on the road — what actually fits in a carry-on?

I am away roughly one week a month, and my practice falls apart every single time. Hotel carpet, no props, and a body that has been sitting in a plane seat for eleven hours.

What do you carry? I am not asking about a travel mat specifically — I am asking what earns its space. So far the only thing I am sure about is a strap, because it doubles as a luggage strap.

One more: decide the night before what the practice will be, and make it shorter than you think. On the road, a decided four minutes beats an undecided twenty.

Ich nehme nur den Gurt mit und suche mir stattdessen morgens draußen eine Fläche — Park, Strand, Parkplatz. Klingt nach Aufwand, ist aber der einzige Weg, auf dem es bei mir nicht am Teppich scheitert.

Outside is the part I keep resisting and probably should not. Next trip I will try it twice before deciding.

A strap and nothing else. Everything a block does can be done with a stack of hotel towels or a hardback book, and both are already in the room.
